Ahuachapán City consists of over 280,000 people and is located about ten miles from the western border with Guatemala. Ahuahcapán is recognized by the numerous steam vents that are visible throughout tthe surrounding mountains as a result of local geothermal activity. The city is only an hour away from the fauna of El Imposible National Park.Ahuachapán was in the famous Salvadorian poet Alfredo Espino was born.
