The Commonwealth of Dominica is one of the British Windward Islands, located between Guadalupe and Martinique in the Caribbean. Tourism suddenly burst on the island of Dominica. Dominica is increasingly popular as a stop for cruise ships, especially since it became the scene of the hit movie series, Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as the CBS reality series, Pirate Master. Do not come to Dominica to the archetypal Caribbean beaches, however. Dominica’s coastline is rugged, with steep cliffs plunging into the sea. It does not matter much, because in this type of volcanic island in time to enjoy white sand beaches you will see other treasures, such as dense forests, magnificent waterfalls and rivers that flow everywhere in Dominica. On the coast of Dominica is a wonderful world for divers to explore, as in Dominica are several species of reef fish, pinnacles, walls of rocks under water and hot springs.

Many who come to the coast of Dominica with cruise ships have only one day to enjoy the delights of Dominica, which is certainly not sufficient for all activities and excursions offered. For example, in Dominica you can see the fascinating “Boiling Lake in Morne Trois Pitons National Park, the tube Layou River, snorkel among tropical fish in the ‘Champagne’ (where volcanic fissures are bubbles of water), hiking the forest, dive into the bottom of the pool green Emerald, a cable car ride through the forest canopy, or watch a live show of folklore, to name just some of the entertainment to enjoy.

This unspoiled tropical paradise offers no luxury resorts and 5 star hotels, but offers accommodations designed for those who want to give your body a break and relax in villas on the cliff top. In Dominica there are small resorts to bed and breakfasts, guesthouses and holiday apartments. At the same time, the island is equipped with all modern amenities, including good communications, banks and restaurants, usually run by local families, in which shows the local cuisine of the West Indies. Those tourists brave enough, can try traditional favorites and Dominica dishes such as possum stew, or “mountain chicken” (which actually is a big frog), which can be irrigated with a little coconut rum punch abundant.

Dominica is one of the few places in the world, and certainly in the Caribbean, where it has a real chance to “enjoy nature in its purest form.”
