Varadero tourist information:
Varadero is located in Matanzas, a province of Cuba. It is one of the largest cities in the Caribbean. Geographically, it is part of the Peninsula Hicacos. As an extension of the mainland, has only about 1.2 kilometers wide. But it is true, this small strip of the island is far from “small” in terms of number of tourists visiting the area.
Each year, the island receives more than 500,000 visitors. Tourists especially enjoy water activities like diving, sailing, fishing and water sports. But aside from its excellent beaches, is also known for its natural caves and historical sites. Ambrosio Cave, measuring 250m is a must for lovers of adventure. On the other hand, nature lovers should take a look at the fauna of Lake Mangón.
The ruins of La Calavera are also on the list of sites to visit.
In terms of demographics, the island is occupied by only 20,000 people. Tourists can enjoy total relaxation and privacy, as it is not crowded like most
of the beaches that receive foreign tourists. Although it is a small town, the city is quite developed, but not to the point of having the commercial infrastructure that would destroy the natural beauty of the island.
