How to get to El Salvador:

By air

International flights arrive at Comalapa International Airport, located 44 km. south of San Salvador. El Salvador, is an important aviation hub of Central America and has connections to major cities in the region, as well as several U.S. cities Taca International Airlines is the national airline of the country.

On Water

The main ports of El Salvador are Acajutia namely, La Union and La Libertad are all located on the Pacific coast.

Buses are available from the city of Tegucigalpa and Guatemala from there depart for San Salvador. Payment of taxes is necessary to cross the border. The buses in El Salvador are affordable, reliable and safe. It is advisable to take buses in El Salvador.

San Salvador is linked to Acajutia, Cutuco, San Jeronimo and Angiuatu by rail. The bus service is eentre OF AREA major cities.The bus system is excellent, but buses can be crowded during peak hours. Car rental in El Salvador is available, but also an international driving permit is required. Taxis are plentiful but are unmetered so fares should be agreed before departing. The most reliable are the taxis provided by larger hotels.
